A Lesson from the Spider Webs
A few months ago, I moved into my new place. Since it’s a brand-new building, I quickly discovered something unexpected: dust and spider webs everywhere—especially on my windows, balcony, and even on my outdoor chair.
At first, it really annoyed me. It seemed like the spiders had decided my balcony was the perfect spot to build their homes (laughs). I started cleaning three to four times a week, but every time I removed a web from one corner, a new one appeared somewhere else.
Just recently, I had to clear webs off my chair again. Frustrated, I said out loud:
“What in the name of JESUS is this nonsense? Do I have to do this every single day now?”
And in that moment, the Holy Spirit gently spoke to me:
“This is what you are supposed to do with your mindset and thoughts.”
It hit me so deeply. Just like spider webs, negative thoughts and unhealthy patterns try to creep into our minds quietly. If we don’t pay attention, they build up before we even realize it.
The truth is, our minds need constant washing and renewing. It’s not a one-time thing—it’s a daily choice. Just as I have to keep sweeping away the webs, I also have to keep guarding my thoughts, removing lies, and filling my mind with God’s truth.
So instead of feeling annoyed, I smiled and said, “Yes, Lord, You are right.”
Because the renewing of the mind is indeed a daily and intentional work—and it’s always worth it.
A Closing Prayer
Lord, help me to stay mindful and alert to the thoughts that creep into my heart and mind. Give me the strength and wisdom to sweep away every negative pattern and replace it with Your truth. Teach me to renew my mind daily, so I may walk in peace, clarity, and purpose. Amen.
Reflection Prompt
💭 Take a moment today and ask yourself:
What “spider webs” of thought have quietly built up in my mind?
What truth from God’s Word can I replace them with today?
